Thank you everyone who attended our 19th Annual Clinton Olde Home Day event. Thousands of people came and enjoyed a beautiful fall evening and a wonderful day full of fun and activity.
Friday evening's events welcomed nearly 30 vendors to our Red, White & Brew festivities, sponsored by Apple Country Markets, while the four-piece Autumn Sunset band played outside. A beautiful fairy princess walked tall with children outside and danced to the music with adults ... all before she entertained everyone with her fire dancing skills. Our food court offered a wide variety of foods, including gluten-free options. Several vendors sold out of food before the end of the evening but returned on Saturday fully stocked to feed thousands of people all day. The Pop-Up Art show displayed 60 beautiful artwork pieces of all modalities from local artists of all ages.
On Saturday, we honored our founding members Donna Merriman and Bill McNally, from the 2000 original parade committee. After opening ceremonies with the American flag raising by members of the VFW, citations were presented to Donna and Bill from Senator Harriette Chandler, Representative Harold Naughton and the Town of Clinton.
Almost 100 crafters and artisans sold their products or provided informational services, while our police and fire departments offered cruisers and fire trucks for kids to explore. (Clinton fire personnel also helped by climbing a ladder onto the fountain to retrieve some of our little duckies who managed to get themselves into trouble by "flying" higher than they should have. They will be watch more carefully during future events).
Other thanks go to DiMeco's Landscaping & Nursery who donated their landscaping gator and to Ravenswood Dumpster Services, as well as Ken MacGray for donating his expertise in web design and his patience with our constant updates. We give a special thanks to all the adult and student volunteers who help the event run so smoothly: Clinton High School's field hockey team, the Excel students and Class of 2019 for unloading and helping the vendors get their goods to their locations; and employees of the Police and Fire departments, Public Works, Board of Health and Town Hall and Parks and Recreation departments. As a committee, we serve at the request of the Board of Selectmen and work diligently each year to provide Clinton with a fun-filled family Olde Home Day event that everyone can be proud of.
A very special thank you to the unsung members of our own families who willingly gave their time and labor to help us out and allow us time to organize this event. Throughout the year, we spent time away from them in order to make sure this event is the best it can be every year. Thank you for allowing us that space and time.
While we could go on and on, we wanted to make sure to thank the sponsors who continuously provide funding for this wonderful family fair and also the public who bring out their families to enjoy this fun-filled annual event. A very special thank you to Donna and Bill for giving our committee a great base to begin planning our 20th Olde Home Day for 2019.
